As you are reading make some notes on the problems and positives with the texts.
The more errors or positives you find the easier it should be to analyse.
When you have chosen your text make as many notes as you can about the positives and the negatives and the appropriateness for the text type. (It is not always easy to pick the text type. If you
are having trouble identifying the type of text then this is something that should go in your analysis- explaining why)
At this stage make the notes in any form you are comfortable with. Use traditional grammar terms if you like- use any form at this stage. Then go back through your notes and text and find the
terminology that is expected from this course- focusing on SFG. Use Google as much as you need. There is so much information on Google in many different forms. If you don’t understand one page go
to another as someone may explain it in a different way.
Do not use Google as one of your references or citations. Try to use Academic references to support your analysis. You have access to the uni database through the library webpage.
Try not to cite webpage’s that are not academic as references especially if they can’t be accessed publicly- but read them and use them to help you understand.
Then go through your notes categorising the points you have raised into the metafunctions as noted in the assessment requirements. Read how many metafunctions you need to cover carefully as there
are several options here.
Follow the sub headings in the assessment criteria.
Identify yourself on each page within the header or footer.
Be conscious of academic language and presentation.
Try not to use personal language- keep it academically objective.
Only choose one text.
Basically you are identifying the text issues in the first section and suggesting ways of improving the issues in the second section.
