Order Description
Situation: Sophia is a senior in college (with a 4.0 g.p.a.), and works part-time in a lab with Dr. Martinez. Although, this job is typically held by graduate students, Dr. Martinez told his department chair that Sophia was the brightest student he has ever taught and she will “undeniably make a difference.”
Sophia needs to maintain a perfect g.p.a. to get accepted to her dream school, Harvard, for graduate studies, however she has been so busy working for Dr. Martinez in his lab that she has not had the time to properly study for the final exam in his class. She attempted to speak with Dr. Martinez about this situation, but he would not grant her request for reduced working hours because they were on “the verge of a breakthrough.”
While going over lab results with Dr. Martinez in his office, Sophia notices multiple copies of the final exam, and while he is distracted she steals a copy. Sophia memorizes the answers and aces the test, however her relief is only temporary. Filled with guilt and remorse, she confesses to Dr. Martinez that she cheated on the final exam. Dr. Martinez follows department protocol and informs his chair of the situation. FIU has a no-tolerance policy for cheating, and the chair expels Sophia sending what, he believes, is a clear message that no one is above university policy.
